Hiking / Rambling

Akamas is a unique area, both geologically and geographically and with regard to Flora and Fauna. Almost all the geological formations of Cyprus can be found here, resulting in a real geological mosaic. For this reason, the Akamas peninsula is endowed with a unique biodiversity, habitats and ecosystems.

Discover nature and wildlife on your doorstep

Many Akamas visitors are nature lovers. In the Akamas Peninsula no less than approximately 530 different plant species grow, not to mention the world wide known orchids. The variety of fauna is equally impressive with its 168 birds, 12 mammals, 20 reptiles and 16 butterfly species that have been sighted in the area. The famous Baths of Aphrodite is both the start and the end of the two self guided nature trails on the Akamas.

Hire a bike to venture further

You can cross this natural beauty via bicycle!

Swim and kayak to explore the sea

The clear turquoise and calm waters of the sea in the area, make it perfect for swimming or kayaking.

Visit the local taverns and shops

Only 3 minutes away by car is Latchi harbour where you will find a variety of taverns and shops. Latchi with its coastal boardwalk is the picturesque harbour of Polis, known throughout Cyprus for its fresh fish. In the past it served as a small port for shipping carobs. The old stone carob warehouses have been converted into restaurants, fish taverns and places for recreation.

Snorkel and explore further

From Latchi you can take a boat to Fontana Amoroza or the Blue Lagoon and spend the day snorkeling in the clear turquoise water. A further 5 minutes along the road will take you to Polis Chrysochous on the boardwalk by the sea, here you can take a walk in the Eucalyptus forest down by the beach or visit one of the archaeological sights.

How to get here

Travel isn’t included in the cost of the holiday. However we have done our research and travel to this location is simple and easy. The hosts have advised that as many of us share the same flight as possible in order to help lower the cost of transfer.

By Plane

Easyjet offers flights from Bristol to Paphos every Saturday. If you are travelling from a different location, that is not a problem. Let us know your travel plans and we will help to arrange your transfer for you.

We can arrange transfers from the airport to the retreat location, depending on how many people we can group together the costs are usually between 5 – 15 euros per person. They have recommended that at least 4 people book a taxi so that everyone can share the cost – we will put as many of you in touch with each other who are on the same flights so that we can share the cost!
