Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga in Bristol

Learn the techniques of being calm and relaxed with Hatha Yoga in Bristol

Hatha Yoga is the practice of physical yoga postures, so Hot Yoga, or Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Power Yoga, etc classes are all forms of Hatha Yoga. So, most of the Yoga we practice today in the West is Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga can also include breathing and mental exercises that help people step away from the busy-ness of their lives and minds.

The word “hatha” can be translated two ways. One is “willful” or “forceful,” or the Yoga of activity. It may have this name because some believed the practice was challenging and “forced its results to happen” on the Yogi! Another translation is “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha) – ie, the Yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit.

How can this benefit me?

With a regular Hatha Yoga practice, much like other styles of Yoga, you’ll find you become stronger and more flexible, whilst also being given tools to help you deal with the stresses of a modern day life. Hatha Yoga provides physical, breath and meditative practices to help you stay present and mindful of each moment.

Is it for everyone?

Yes anyone can do it. All you need to do is discuss with your teacher before the class if you have any injuries, illnesses or movement limitations. This way the Teacher can privde variations and adjustments that suit your particular needs.

Is this the right styke for me?

Typically a Hatha Yoga class incorporates asana (physical postures), breath work and relaxation but is taught at a more gentle pace compared to Hot, or Ashtanga yoga.

Since Hatha Yoga encompasses all styles, Yogafurie offers Hatha Yoga in Bristol, training can be found in the Hot Yoga classes or in our Studio 2 (normal temperature) space. Of course the Hatha Yoga in the Hot Studio may be feel a little more challenging! If you prefer normal temperature classes, Josie holds a beautiful Hatha Yoga class on a Tuesday evening
