Five years ago, Bristol’s leading Yoga studios made it their mission to change the face of Yoga practice in the city. Our aim? To bring Yoga and Hot Yoga to everyone. We’ve seen first-hand the transformative power of Yoga and Hot Yoga – power to heal old injuries, power to rebuild damaged self-confidence, power to bring people back against overwhelming odds.
How does heat actually help? Read our blog for more info…
And so, the Bristol Yoga Trail was born…a day of free Yoga across the city, every year. In true Bristol spirit, five studios have consistently worked together for the common good of Yoga and Hot Yoga. The event has gone from strength to strength over the years, and this (our sixth) year is set to be bigger and better than ever. It’s on Saturday 13th October this year, and the studios taking part are: Yogafurie, Yogasara, Bristol Yoga Space, Bristol City Yoga and Yogawest.
So, what do you need to do? Well, check out the flyer for a full schedule of what’s going on – you can click to see it in your browser and print it – and plan your day! You can also drop by the Yogafurie studio for a flyer – click if you need directions. You can hit one studio for the day, or travel around trying different places. You can bring friends and family: it’s a great way to try Yoga or Hot Yoga for the first time, or to broaden your practice in new environments if you’re a seasoned Yogi. There’s more info on the Trail website.
The event is free to you and to anyone taking part. However, we’re proud to support Off The Record (a Bristol homeless charity), so you will be offered the chance to make donations when you visit studios.
Yogafurie is offering four Hot Yoga classes on the day, and two non-hot Yoga classes that will focus on breathing and meditation.
Here’s the Yogafurie schedule:
- 9AM – Classic Furie. Authentic Vinyasa practice at 42 degrees.
- 10AM – Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. Breath exploration and settling into stillness at normal room temperature.
- 11AM – Core Deep. Yoga postures that build and develop core awareness, strength and mobility.
- 12PM – Yoga Nidra. A wonderfully relaxing meditation technique, at normal room temperature.
- 1PM – Freedom Flow. If it feels good, do it! Yoga for the soul at 35 degrees.
- 3PM – Dreamtime. Positive Vinyasa practice followed by a relaxing Nidra medtation at 35 degrees.
Remember – if you come for a Hot Yoga class then bring a really large towel to put over the mat we will lend you. We have showers, so if you want to shower afterwards then bring a second towel for that. Bring a bit of water to sip on. If you forget either on the day then we can hire you a towel for £1, and you can buy a (not plastic!) bottle of water for £1. You must have a towel to practice Hot Yoga, otherwise you can slip on your mat.
If you come for breath practice or Nidra meditation then just rock up and prepare to get chilled!
See you on 13th October…
