Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is physical Yoga, so Hot Yoga, or Ashtanga, Vinyasa or pretty much all of what we do in the West today is Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga can also include breathing and mental exercises that help people step away from the busy-ness of their lives and minds. This side features regularly in Yogafurie Hot Yoga classes.

The word “hatha” can be translated two ways. One is “willful” or “forceful,” or the Yoga of activity. It may have this name because the practice was always physically challenging and some said it “forced its results to happen” on the Yogi! Another translation is “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha) – the Yoga of balance.

Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit. You might have to work a little for that!
