Women are drawing a line under the past and demanding a fair, respectful future: a future in which their contribution is finally recognised and honoured. There are many stories in recent media highlighting that this process already well underway.
International Women’s Day is an annual event to celebrate this transition to true equality. Yogafurie is pleased to bring the celebration to Bristol with delicious Glow Yoga (30 degrees), luxurious Yoga Nidra (sleep meditation), and an inspiring talk from Bristol women’s charity 125.
125 help women off of the streets and offer hope and choice for a better future, and you can read their vision to make Bristol a safe and supportive place. There are many positive and inspiring stories to read about women have transformed their lives.
How can I get involved?
Come along and join in the celebrations.
- Saturday 3rd March 2018
- 1-3 PM
- Yogafurie Studio, Ashley Down Road, BS7 9DD
We have two fully-equipped practice rooms, so Glow Yoga and Yoga Nidra will both run 1-2 PM. There’ll be free tea, coffee and snacks available afterwards for the talk by 125.
What do I need to bring?
This is a free event, there is no charge for attending. There will be a voluntary collection for 125 to support the amazing work they do. We are fully equipped for all styles of Yoga. All you need to bring is yourself, and a towel to put over your mat if you plan to do the Glow Yoga class.
Who can come along?
This event is for women only.
And there’s more…
Does it seem to you that remarkable changes are taking place? Female empowerment is a reality: salaries are being adjusted, structures that allow abuse are being dismantled. There’s a great deal more work to be done – and the detractors seem to be digging in, trying to defend an outdated position – but women have found a true voice and the world will hear it. In fact, if you visit the International Women’s Day website, their mission statement is:
Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. There’s a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.
All this, and Yoga is now widespread globally.
Some correlate these changes to the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This represents a new astrological age (each lasting around 2150 years). Not all astrologers agree on when it started or exactly what it means (check the Wikipedia page). However, we can all see that things are changing.
The Age of Aquarius is associated with democracy and freedom (among other things). Whether it’s a genuine shift in divine intention for the people of the Earth, or simply a long-overdue cultural awakening, join us on 3/3/18 and let’s together make the next 2000 years much more inclusive than the last.
